Fifth and sixth grade students explore collaborative and individual approaches to creating art. They experiment with multiple art-making techniques and improve those techniques through practice. Students will learn about socially-engaged contemporary art and connect that to meaningful projects of their own. They respond to the work of their peers and to significant works of art and make connections between their own work and the work of other artists. Units include: Collaborative art, TAB choice independent exploration of drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, clay, and fiber arts, socially-engaged art.
